New website!
For reasons too boring to go into, this site had to graduate from its previous host and move to something new. Not everything is here, but hopefully that will improve during the year.

So many books
Interestingly, while working on this site, we found more and more lists of books to add we wanted to add. For instance, there’s the (growing) collection of revival / research books. There is a new list of books for type students, “Towards a TypeMedia syllabus”, recommended reading even if the titles may not so easy to find. An updated and illustrated bibliography of Gerrit Noordzij. A list of books published by TypeMedia, over the years. And a list of all the different editions and translations of Noordzij’s The stroke.

With extreme expediency the class of 2026 published their projects in an animated and visual feast. Read about their results and process here:

The site was rebuilt in the summer of 2026, it runs on Eleventy with some Nunjucks templates. Thanks to Pixel Ambacht for getting us started. The fonts are Action Grotesque and I’m not even going to explain why. The site does not track its readers, it does not use Google fonts, it requires no cookies, as such it needs no GDPR compliance banner. There is no advertising. Most of the html and css is handwritten.
